Horsham Gymnastic Centre’s Sports Acrobatic squad competed at the Regional Championships at Swallows Leisure Centre in Sittingbourne against hundreds of gymnasts from nineteen top clubs in West and East Sussex, Surrey and Kent, and came away with 16 Regional Champions. It proved to be another very successful competition for the squad that continues to improve and achieve increasingly better results. The newly formed Men’s Group of Dominic S, Dominic G, Devon and Jackson started things off by taking the gold medal in the Grade 4 competition. As the day progressed Horsham took more gold medals through Georgia, Ella and Lily in the 11 – 16 FIG Women’s Group, Zoe S and Zoe G in the 12 – 18 FIG Women’s pair. These were followed by another seven gold medals from Myla, Ella and Alex competing in the 12 – 18 FIG Women’s Group, 12 – 18 FIG Mixed Pair Benjamin and Natalie and 13 – 19 FIG Women’s Pair Aimee and Madeline. Just narrowly missing out, but also earning a medal, were Grade 6 Women’s Group Manami, Macy and Alexis and 11 – 16 FIG Woman’s Pair Matilda and Phoebe, who all took away bronze. Horsham’s head Sports Acro coach Ali Harmer said, “I am very proud of the squad today, not just those who medalled, but all of our gymnasts who competed. They all continue to represent us superbly with both their talent and their attitude.”

The squad now prepares for two big competitions next year where some of them will compete back in Sittingbourne in March at the qualifiers for the National Finals, to be held later in the year, while the senior FIG group will take part in the prestigious Pat Wade Classic at Stoke on Trent’s Fenton Manor Sports Complex, also in March.

A total of 77 competitors took part in a very strong British Espoir Challenge Cup on Sunday 18th September at Guildford Spectrum. Scarlett performed well on floor as well as successfully completing her Tsukahara vault. However, she didn't have her best day on bars and a fall on beam kept her down the rankings. Honesty performed a steady floor routine and a very strong vault scoring 12.8. Her beam routine with high difficulty was steady however, she had one fall on bars but still managed to place in the top half overall. Honesty was also just outside the top 20 on both vault (24th) and beam (21st).

3 members of the Women's Artistic squad were part of the South East Region National Grade 2 team that placed 5th in the country at the Club Grade National Finals held in Stoke. Fran Clark was the travelling reserve with Honesty South and Scarlett Tidy both posting scores to help the team seal this position.

Honesty had an unfortunate mistake on Bars which dropped her out of the top 15 to finish 25th individually overall out of 50 competitors. Scarlett performed consistently well finishing 7th in the country individually. This was an extremely close fought, high level competition with the gap to the medals just 0.50 of a mark away.

The girls performed extremely well and represented their region exceptionally well. All at Horsham Gymnastics Centre are very proud of these achievements.
