Congratulations to Tabitha who has been selected for the Great Britain Home Nations Development Squad for 2019. This is a selection made by the National Coaches based upon the results achieved at the National Final events held in 2018. Tabitha finished a magnificent 6thplace combined from these two competitions. This ensured Tabitha was picked as one of seven gymnasts for this age group to hold a place in the squad. She will now train 4 times in 2019 at Lilleshall National Sports Centre under the guidance of the British Gymnastics National Staff gaining valuable knowledge and experience. She will train 4 sessions over 3 days at each of the squads. We wish Tabitha good luck for the coming year and congratulate her on this tremendous achievement.

English Bronze/Silver/Gold Championships 2018

In the silver 10-11 years category Morgan competed steadily and finished a very creditable 8th on beam and 10th on floor. Lola had a few areas that didn’t go as well as we hoped but managed to place 13th on beam with a fall and 16th on floor with a slight injury from the beam fall. This was a large category with Lola finishing 19th and Morgan 16th overall out of 40 gymnasts.

In the silver 12-13 years category Phoebe was crowned English bar champion with Cissy 3rd. Cissy was also 3rd on beam with Izzy 4th. Overall Cissy finishes 4th, Phoebe 5th and Izzy 11th. This again was a large category with 40 gymnasts. The girls also got to meet and have medals presented by Kelly Simm (GB gymnast, commonwealth and world medallist and Olympian)

In the gold 11+ years category Honesty finished with 3rd place on vault, bars and beam as well as 3rd overall. These were very good results on a very close category (only 0.3 splitting 1st and 3rd overall) with no upper age limit.

Well done to the girls for finishing the competition season on a very positive performance.

Junior Challenge Cup

Honesty competed in the British Junior Challenge Cup this weekend. A few falls kept her overall position down to 35thoverall. However, it is positive to see that if she has a clean competition, she could score with some of the best overall. Honesty put in a steady performance on floor and finished her competition with a magnificent vault, scoring 12.65. This placed honesty in 2ndplace on vault where she received the silver medal competing against the best juniors for this level in the country.

Bill McLoughlin team

This competition had a very high class field of gymnasts to compete against including, junior European GB team members as well as GB junior squad members and England squad members. Honesty was also a member of the SE Team who placed 10th. Honesty had 2 solid vaults and just one fall on beam but performed well in her second day of competition.

National Voluntary Finals 2018

Four gymnasts travelled to Guildford Spectrum this weekend competing as members of the South East level 4 and 3 teams. Brooke, Tabitha, Georgia and Arabella all qualified from the regional championships back in September and were competing against the best gymnasts in the country for their respective levels (age groups). Absolutely fabulous results were achieved.

Georgia and Arabella competed in a very strong level 4 group of gymnasts with the South East team placing 7th. Arabella in her first ever National Final finished 32nd overall, contributing all her scores to the team total. Georgia finished 23rd overall and 10th on floor out of 49 gymnasts again contributing all her scores to the team total. Georgia from both her National Finals results, compulsory and voluntary, has finished the year with a fantastic national ranking of 22nd in the country.

Level 3 was again a strong level of competition with the South East team placing a very creditable 4th. This competition saw Brooke placed 26th overall and Tabitha 8th overall as well as 10th on bars and 8th on beam. The girls contributed great scores towards the team total with nearly all their scores improved upon from the regional championships.

Brooke and Tabitha, as they competed at both national final events, compulsory and voluntary, finished with a combined score which reflects their national ranking. This saw Brooke place 18th and Tabitha 6th in the country. Excellent results girls. We couldn't be prouder of you!

This competition was held at Horsham GC on the 3rdJune and we had 22 gymnasts competing for either Horsham or Sussex. This competition runs with 2 separate categories. There is an overall position for each level and age category and then there is a category for gymnasts who represent the Sussex County Squad.

All our gymnasts had an exceptional competition with many new moves being competed and with some gymnasts having only just altered routines from National Finals only weeks before, this was a great achievement. A total of 22 medals and a further 5 top 8 place ribbons were won at this competition.

At level 5 in age Zara finished 8thand Isla 4th,out of a large group of 24 gymnasts.

Level 6 out of age we had 6 gymnasts competing with Holly placing 10that her first women’s 4 piece competition. Willow placed 9thoverall with Autumn 7th. The top 3 places were taken by Horsham gymnasts with Naomi 3rd, Nureeza 2ndand Lucy 1st.

Level 3 out of age (05/04) Isabel won both categories of competition by over 1 whole mark. Level 3 out of age (07/06) saw Cissy return to competition and place 4thoverall, Phoebe 3rdand Lola 1stby 1 whole mark also. Phoebe also picked up a silver medal for the Sussex representative category.

Level 4 out of age (08/07) had Morgan representing Sussex. Morgan won both categories of this competition.

Level 4 in age saw Lara take 3rdplace in the Sussex representative category. Arabella placed 2ndoverall with Georgia and Poppy sharing 1stplace. Poppy also won the Sussex representative category.

Level 3 in age Elisha placed 7thoverall and won the Sussex representative section. Brooke placed 3rdoverall with Tabitha Lees 2nd.

FIG Junior Challenge saw Scarlett place 3rdoverall and 2ndin the Sussex representative section with Honesty placing 1stin both categories.

This was the last competition of this season and was a great success with some very good results. Well done to everybody.

Three Women’s Artistic gymnasts represented the South East region at National Grades Finals in Stoke on Trent.

Lola finished 12th overall out of 50 gymnasts, just 0.4 away from 6th place. She also placed 2nd on range and conditioning (.05 from 1st), 2nd on floor (.10 from 1st) and 8th on bars (.25 from 1st). Fabulous job Lola!

Phoebe managed to compete on all apparatus, despite hurting her foot earlier in the week. Unfortunately an extra swing and stop on bars kept her overall score lower than we hoped but she managed to contribute to the teams scores on other pieces. Well done Phoebe!

Honesty finished 26th overall at National Grade 1. A fabulous 4th on beam and a personal best 13.00 on range and conditioning (13.5 was the winning range score). She also competed her yurchenko vault for the first time today with a 12.7 score (13.15 winning vault score). Well done Honesty all grades finished now.

Over 2 separate weekends of grades finals, 6 girls represented the South East and Horsham GC extremely well. Along the way Lola placed 12th overall at National Grade 3 and Tabitha placed 10th at Compulsory Grade 3. Between them they also took 8 top 10 placings on apparatus. This is a great achievement at national level competitions, competing against the best gymnasts in the country at their respective grades. Well done girls we are all proud of you!

National Compulsory Finals 2018

National Compulsory Grades Finals - Stoke on Trent - May 12th

On May 12th 3 girls from Horsham competed at Fenton Manor, Stoke on Trent at the National Compulsory Grades Finals. The girls had to qualify to be eligible to compete at this competition as part of the South East team or as an individual back in April at the South East Regional Grades. National Grades finals is therefore a competition for the best gymnasts in the country to compete against each other with set skills to be performed.

Georgia competing at her first National Finals representing the South East team at Compulsory Grade 4 (9 years). Georgia had a magnificent second vault score of 13.55 out of 14.00. However, a few mistakes around the competition led Georgia to place 47th overall out of the top 60 gymnasts from around the country. This was invaluable experience for Georgia in her gymnastics journey.

Later in the day the top 40 gymnasts in the country competed at Compulsory Grade 3 (10 years) and saw Brooke and Tabitha competing in their 3rd National Finals event. Brooke was reserve for the South East team which placed a fabulous 4th. Brooke had a clean competition but just missed a couple of connections and finished 24th overall. She also came away with a 3rd place finish on Range and Conditioning, scoring 12.10.

Tabitha also competed as an individual at Compulsory 3 and again had a clean competition. Tabitha had a great round and came away with a 7th place finish on Beam, 8th on Bars and Range and Conditioning as well as a magnificent 10th place overall.

Well done girls we are all really proud of you and the work you have done over the last 6 months to get these results.
